The Kottenheimer Winfeld is now a disused, wooded quarry and a landscape monument in the Volcano Park. Cranes, crane bases, and retaining walls still stand on the mighty lava walls. (Wikipedia) Today, it is used as a climbing area by the German Alpine Club, and there are also several hiking trails.
