For several years now, Münsterhausen has been a popular location for white storks, which are increasingly settling in the region. According to recent reports from April 2025, the stork population in Münsterhausen has continued to grow. Five of the six available stork nests are occupied again this year, which is considered a positive sign for the species' development. Particularly noteworthy is that two pairs of storks are nesting not on traditional chimneys, but in a treetop – a rare and positive development that gives conservation authorities hope for an improved habitat situation. The storks can be observed in several locations, including at the Catholic parish office, opposite the Auwald Mill on the main street, and on the grounds of the former Schwarzkopf company. The breeding season lasts until the beginning of August, with a clutch averaging three to five eggs. The storks are therefore already in the breeding phase and can currently be observed in Münsterhausen.
