Haydau Monastery was originally built in 1235 as a Cistercian nunnery and converted into a castle for the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel around 1600. From 1985 to 2001, the monastery was renovated and now serves as a venue for conferences, congresses, art and cultural events, weddings, and family celebrations.

The old village church in Haydau was built around 1200. All that remains is the lower half of the chancel tower with a timber-framed upper story dating from 1839.

Around 1200, Wichte lay on the high road that, as part of the "Long Hesse," connected Ziegenhain and Reichenbach, the corner strongholds of the Counts of Ziegenhain-Reichenbach. This high road crossed the Fulda River on a stone bridge above the Leimbachshof farm, before the present-day Morschen bridge. Wichte was granted market rights by the Counts of Ziegenhain in 1237.

The Protestant church in Wichte was built in 1845/46 as a simple hall church with a tower clock and two bells.

The path there is worth hiking

There's something enchanted about the tower. Perhaps Rapunzel will let down her hair if you just call to her.
