Very beautiful church

Very clear plan of the castle park

The palace was built between 1701 and 1711 as a hunting lodge for Emperor Charles VI. In 1945, the palace was plundered by Soviet occupation troops, and in 1949, it largely burned down. Only the central section of the main building survived; the side wings were gradually reconstructed.

The Roman Catholic Parish Church of St. Magdalene in Mönchhof. The church stands on an elevated site and is incorporated into the Heiligenkreuz Abbey. It belongs to the Frauenkirchen deanery in the Diocese of Eisenstadt and is a listed building. The present Baroque church and the adjacent manor house (now the rectory) were built under Abbot Robert Leeb between 1729 and 1734 using demolition material from the previous church. The previous church, which was severely damaged during the Second Turkish War, was first documented in 1240. Important artists such as Martino Altomonte and Giovanni Giuliani contributed to the church's high-quality interior.

Beautiful castle with a wonderful garden. The castle hotel is located in the adjacent building.

The park is open 24 hours a day, year-round. Cyclists are welcome throughout the entire castle grounds; bike racks can be found in front of the castle and the restaurant. It's worth seeing, a worthwhile destination for a detour or a tour.
