There are several paths in the Schaumburg Forest where cycling is expressly prohibited (as indicated by signs)! This should be respected at all costs. Anyone who doesn't will literally end up "on the wrong track"; such paths often end in the middle of the forest and/or in a bottomless mud hole. 🙈🥵 Woe to anyone who gets stuck or falls there!

There are few trails in the Schaumburg Forest that are as freely and comfortably navigable. When heavy machinery has been working in the forest, even the few paved trails should be enjoyed with caution. Side trails and less paved paths are then considered "adventurous" or even impassable.

The former Cistercian monastery has lost none of its charm since its founding. The Loccum Preachers' Seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church has a long tradition within the overall complex of Loccum Monastery. The redesign of the outdoor areas and a reinterpretation of Prior's Garden are important components of the comprehensive structural renovation and new construction.
