Magnificent views of the surrounding alpine landscape in the Upper Vinschgau Valley can be enjoyed from the summit of the Watles, with its modern summit cross at 2,555 meters. There are two routes to the summit, the more scenic, albeit longer, being the route via the Galtberg.

At the alpine pasture, you can relax on the sun terrace and enjoy a cool drink and a delicious mountain hut meal. The pasture is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the kitchen open until 3 p.m.

The Schliniger Alm is well visited and beautifully situated.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the really beautiful path from the Watles summit to the upper mountain station that we took yesterday in any other digital or paper map. To do this, walk about 300 m downwards and keep right on the red and white marked path. This winds down with a slight gradient, but double the distance on the right edge of the valley with a very nice panorama and you move beyond the departure area.

Here it goes downhill on rather steep pistes and to the valley descent of the smugglers' route to Samnaun.

Border triangle Switzerland, Austria, Italy with a beautiful view of Vinschgau, the Swiss Engadine and Tyrolean Oberland up to the Ötztal Alps. This mountain tour can also be walked up very slowly. She is well marked. Of course, the sporting requirements must be met, including dizziness or dealing with mountain air in connection with the effort. Observe the weather and prepare well. Hiking shoes and hiking poles are advisable.
