Zehdenick Castle is situated on a green peninsula on the Havel River and boasts a history dating back to the Middle Ages. In the 16th century, a Renaissance castle was built on the old foundations, but this was destroyed in 1631 during the Thirty Years' War. Later, a half-timbered building was constructed, which was used as a private residence from 1809 onwards. After several renovations and periods of use as a boarding school and a retirement home, the castle was opened to the public in 2003 following extensive restoration.

The church was completed in 1844 and has seen a great deal. The main organ also dates from this period and is still functional. The building itself is made of brickwork, which is fortunately easy to recognize here.

Rather rare: a brick half-timbered church from around 1840

There are these technically beautiful blue lift bridges everywhere. I wasn't expecting them, but they're beautiful. The bike path is just as beautiful: always along the water, no traffic, few disruptions, TOO

On my bike ride north, this lovely harbor bistro right on the water is always worth a stop. The staff is very friendly. The food selection is very varied and tasty. Fish sandwiches or fried fish with fried potatoes (highly recommended). 🔝
