The village of Lavertezzo in the Verzasca Valley was first mentioned in 1327 under the name Laverteze. In 1913, a bronze axe was found in the municipality. In the Middle Ages, Lavertezzo, like Squadra, probably belonged to the large vicinia Verzasca. The population moved between Lavertezzo and the Terricciuole area, which was under the joint jurisdiction of Locarno, Minusio and Mergoscia. In 1920, part of the Terricciuole was incorporated into Lavertezzo, today's Riazzino.

beautiful village, together with the Verzasca Dam the second tourist must see in Val Verzasca is this village and the near by roman style bridge. It is hard to admit but it is awsome! Take a bath in the ice colde water, enjoy the beautiful Rustici and rocks and of course the unique bridge. Ignore the fact that you are surrounded by many many more like you. Tip: buy the parking license at the Kiosk at the dam.

If you stroll through the streets of the old village center, you feel like you are in a museum. Traditional stone houses, flower-filled balconies, small village shops with local products and restaurants. A visit to the museum and the House of Wool is worth it.

There’s a nice hiking trail next to the river. On the other side there is a road which gives a bit easier access to the spot.
