There is a lot to see along the cycle path

The Friesener Warte is always worth a hike, if only because of the breathtaking view that the high plateau offers.

Inside the New Residence there is a flowery treasure. In summer, 4,500 roses in 50 varieties pour into the box-framed ornamental beds in abundance. The garden was given its basic structure in 1733 by Balthasar Neumann, who enlarged the then existing Renaissance complex with a raised terrace. This historical structure has been preserved to this day. The focal point is the round fountain basin, which is framed by clipped linden trees. You can stroll pleasantly between roses and figures of gods along the dead-straight paths that divide the garden. Ferdinand Tietz created the sculptures around 1760, copies of which adorn the garden today as a special ornament. Under the shady roof of the hornbeam and linden trees, you can walk along the wall and the balustrade and enjoy the view of the old town of Bamberg or admire the garden splendor from the café in the rococo pavilion. The rose garden in the courtyard of the New Residence not only shines with its flowers, but also offers a wonderful view of the Michaelsberg and the old town.

The estuary is just before / behind Bamberg in an idyllic, beautiful setting. From here on, the Main is also navigable.

The castle is centrally located in a rectangular garden of 21 hectares, some of the paths are designed as avenues or arcades that are well worth seeing. The original rococo garden design is no longer recognizable, most of the areas are covered with lawn, some with loose trees. Pond farming for carp breeding is practiced in the immediate vicinity. At the edge of the garden is the striking orangery building with the central Memmelsdorfer Tor. The later added greenhouses on both sides are among the most important orangery buildings in Franconia. The spacious area served as a wintering house for the orange trees and other exotic plants. The Ferdinand Tietz Museum (the former court sculptor who also created the sculptures in the rose garden of the Bamberg Residence) has been in the western orangery since 1997.

The clearing in the waiting room is overgrown with a few juniper bushes. Unfortunately, there is no long-distance view because the trees around the clearing are too high. There is a clear view at the airfield
