😍what can I say, just go around the Epprechtstein🚶 and bring your time, best when the frost is over, currently ❄️❄️❄️very slippery, but also beautiful in clear☀️ weather. You don't always have to follow Komoot😉 just follow the👃🤩

Right next to the Waldsteinhaus rises a mighty rock face containing the remains of the surrounding walls of the former main castle, the "Red Castle." Stone steps through the castle gate lead to the inner courtyard, which formerly housed various buildings (a gatehouse, a residential tower, and a cistern). The castle was built in the 14th century by the Lords of Sparneck; it was destroyed by the Swabian League in midsummer 1523. In the summer of 2024, the "Red Castle" was renovated and is now open to visitors again.

At the break itself you can marvel at old equipment. The granite stones can be used to sit down. The breach is secured by a fence.

The Großer Waldstein in the Fichtelgebirge has a wow effect for me, the mighty rock formations just amaze you. The summit plateau is easy to reach and has a wonderful view in all directions. Since there is a hiking parking lot directly below, it is a good starting point for many hikes.

The Hohe Stein in the Fichtelgebirge is always worth a visit when hiking, if only because of the view, is right on the hiking trail, the ladder is securely anchored in the rock, you are only unsecured at the exit.

The Epprechtstein castle ruins are always worth a visit on a hike, if only because of the breathtaking view and the flair of the region. On our last tour we used the time to take a break.

From the castle ruins you have a panoramic view over the Waldstein range, to the Kornberg, to Schwarzenbach and Oberkotzau to Hof, south over the inner Fichtelgebirge to the Kösseine.
