The Pietzmoor in the Lüneburg Heath was renaturalized in 1985/86. A 4.4 km circular trail offers a good insight into the moor. Half of it is on a wooden boardwalk.

It is amazing what successful renaturation of the moor can achieve in such a short time.

Sylvestersee The picturesque Sylvestersee, named after a British officer, was created by the compaction of the subsoil by heavy military machines. Today it blends harmoniously into the Osterheide and, although it is only fed by rainwater, has never dried out. The Pietzmoor is absolutely recommended for hiking. The Heidenschleife offers a good hiking route that includes all of the moor's sights.
