Beautiful castle ruin 🤩

Idyllically situated, small lake in the forest between Burgbernheim and Hornau, beautiful.

Beautifully situated and very helpful in bad weather, but also suitable as protection from the sun in midsummer.

A very nice bike path

The Hinterfrankenberg castle ruins are a fascinating destination for anyone who wants to combine history and nature. The remains of the former castle are idyllically situated on a hill and offer a great view of the surrounding landscape. Although only ruins remain of the castle, you can feel the breath of times gone by here. The old walls, some of which have been reclaimed by nature, are particularly impressive. Sturdy shoes are recommended as the paths to the ruins can be uneven in places. A visit is particularly worthwhile for history buffs and hikers looking for a quiet place to linger. Don't forget to bring your binoculars - the view is worth it!

The Tauber is an idyllic, small river that rises near Weikersholz and flows into the Main near Wertheim after about 130 km. It accompanies cyclists almost the entire "Liebliches Taubertal" cycle path between Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Wertheim and invites you to take a break at many beautiful places.

The Hirschteich is considered to be one of the three Altmühl sources. However, since this source dries up again and again in dry periods, it is considered unlikely. Since 1904, the Hornauer Weiher has been officially designated as the Altmühl source.
