The Lago d'Alzasca lies below the ridge of the Cima di Doia at an altitude of 1,855 meters above sea level. The beautiful mountain lake belongs to the Ticino municipality of Maggia. It is drained by the Ri d'Alzasca. Around 500m north of Lake Alzasca there is a mountain hut belonging to the Swiss Alpine Club, the Capanna d’Alzasca.
