A lake with a particular history. Lake Morasco is an artificial lake created by the damming of the dam of the same name. The dam was created in the 1930s by the Edison company to generate electricity for the valley by submerging the town of Morasco, a town of Walser origin inhabited since the 15th century. Morasco was the main town in the valley, at the time of the construction of the dam and by then uninhabited in the winter months, it was instead populated in the summer months corresponding to the period of mountain grazing at high altitude.
