Easy route without incline

For 500 years people have been making pilgrimages to the Holy Water Chapel

Next to the chapel is a fountain fed by water from a spring above. This water is considered by locals and visitors to have healing properties.

The first chapel was built around 1250, and the current chapel dates back to around 1470. After the chapel fell into disrepair in the 1940s, it was restored by Belgian and French prisoners of war, who did so as a token of gratitude for their safe return from captivity.

The chapel has a long history dating back to the 13th century.

The Lipno reservoir (Moldau reservoir) is located on the Czech border with Austria in the "Bohemian Forest National Park and Landscape Conservation Area". With a length of around 30 km and a maximum width of around 6 km, the lake is the largest lake in the Czech Republic and a meeting point for swimmers, divers and other water sports enthusiasts. A beautiful cycle path leads around the lake, which always offers a great view of the Lipno.

View of the natural heritage Spirkenhochmoor "Bayrische Au". Even during the time of the Iron Curtain, the small section of the Moldau reservoir that extends over into Austria was a popular tourist destination. An adventure trail leads through the moor.
