Summit of the Ruhmannsberg > a geotope The summit of the Ruhmannsberg is formed by a small rock cliff made of amphibolite. Two different varieties are exposed: a fine-grained and a coarse-grained amphibolite, which are interwoven with each other. In some cases, the rocks also have a single-layer appearance with light and dark bands. Basic volcanic rocks are possible parent rocks for the amphibolites. A rib of fine-grained granite is exposed just a little north of the summit. People saw the devil dancing on one rock at night, and the Virgin Mary is said to have bathed the baby Jesus in a bowl-shaped depression in another. No stories of demons or victims have been told about this place. Since ancient times, the rocks have had romantic significance, as Lipbo couples came and went to the mountain to enjoy their happiness. And who knows, surely today someone will also want to remain calm!
