With its imposing trunk and gnarled branches, it is a silent witness to history—and a perfect place to pause and marvel. The "wooden mother," as this natural monument is also known, has been determined to be 400 years old through tree-ring drilling.

After 32 km, the Schutter River flows into the Danube here. It rises near Konstein and initially flows southward through the Urdonautal valley, before leaving this valley to the west near Waldau. Along its course, it feeds an extensive system of water ditches, where numerous mills once provided modest prosperity—a kind of economic stream, which also justifies the monument at the mouth. It's just a pity that the actual mouth consists of a simple sewer pipe.
