There are groups of burial mounds in the Gerolfinger oak forest. These grave monuments of the Bronze and early Iron Ages are silent witnesses of the Ingolstadt prehistory. Unaffected by the passage of time, they lie in the forest and are powerful places full of mysticism.
As on the Vierufschanze Neufahrn, there is a Christian martyr on one of the burial mounds. It was built there in order to apparently take the strength from this prehistoric place (see also "Christian symbols on prehistoric monuments")

The academic garden was not designed for representational purposes, but for teaching. The plan from 1783 drawn by the gardener Veit Bertele shows this very clearly: the garden was structured like a kitchen garden, with simple rectangular beds. As in a tabular overview, the plants were arranged here according to the applicable botanical system.
