Beautiful lookout that is probably the best view of the hike.

The trail takes you right up to the cliff's edge. From here you can look down past the brave trees that cling to the cliff rim and into Wells Cove. Here the water carves away at the steep cliffsides and a small beach rests at the head of the cove far below your feet.

The Nehalem River is a breathtaking waterway that boasts diverse wildlife, both on land and in the water, from majestic elk and black-tailed deer to playful river otters and busy beavers. Below the surface, the river is teeming with salmon and other fish. As you ride along, you might spot a northern spotted owl, an osprey, or even a golden eagle in the sky. In 2019, the river was designated a “State Scenic Waterway” to protect its corridor, wildlife, and stunning scenery.

Pacific City is a charming coastal town beneath the majestic Cape Kiwanda. Mesmerizing landmarks, sandy beaches, awe-inspiring views, and excellent surfing opportunities surround this picturesque location. Here, you will see the massive “sea stack” rock formation and the towering sand dune leading to Cape Kiwanda's top, offering breathtaking vistas. The town is also an exceptional spot for fishing, surfing, and watching dorymen launch their boats directly from the beach.

Along with Cape Meares and Cape Lookout, Cape Kiwanda is part of the Three Capes Scenic Route. If you have time to explore the area you can climb to the top of the dunes, explore the beach, and admire the dramatic cliff and rock faces that make this place so inviting.

Situated just west of Elk Mountain at 3,226 feet, Kings Mountain is a moderately challenging peak to bag and the views over Tillamook State Forest from the top are worth it! When combined with Elk Mountain via Elk Mountain - Kings Mountain Loop Trail, this makes for a great circular route!

This waterfall is set in a lush forest and is worth the detour off the trail! You can reach it via Gravelle Brothers Trail or Wilson River Wagon Road Trail, which can be run in a loop for a 12km outing.
