Pleasant trails through the marsh. There are several ferry crossings along the way, making for a lovely stroll. The visitor center is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The loops (boot trail + boardwalk) total 3.8 km.

The Vilsteren weir was built after the length of the Overijsselse Vecht was reduced from 90 to 60 kilometers at the end of the 19th century. The weirs served to prevent high areas from drying out and low areas from flooding.
