The San Jorio pass is located on the Italian-Swiss border at over two thousand meters above sea level and connected the Val Marobbia (Switzerland) and the Val Dongo (Italy).

The San Jorio Pass, with its 2014 m, separates the Albano Valley from Ticino.

Long climb up the pass, but really beautiful and very pleasant to ride

The Giovo Refuge is closed and unattended, in order to stay there you must ask for the keys in advance at the Sant'Anna restaurant in Germasino. Here you can leave the car to go up to Passo San Jorio or to continue on other paths. The road that gets here is not the best, as a large part of it is dirt, but with the right attention it is not a big problem.

Very nice pass, drive and enjoy

Compared to other passes in the Calanca massif, this transition is easy from an alpine point of view, especially if you can drive to Alp de Bec-Sot by car or alpine taxi. Since the area is relatively lonely, the alpine vegetation can be enjoyed all the more.

Wonderful view

The highlight on Lake Como! From Dongo via Boccheta, Giovo to S. Jorio. At the Rifugio San Jorio you can get good food and, if the weather is good, enjoy a fantastic view. Partly on the route you have already taken or at the pass height 2010 m above sea level in Switzerland and Lake Lugano. Back to Giovo via the old military road to Garzeno and further to Dongo. Can be done easily with the E-MTB, otherwise only if you are in good shape. Have fun🤗
