Built in 1595 at the behest of Stephan Zobel von Giebelstadt and his wife Kordula Echter. Renaissance style, single-nave church with a striking, slate-gray west tower. The church is dedicated to Saint Burkhard, an early bishop and missionary, considered the first bishop of Würzburg.

On the right, the Echter coat of arms, on the left, the Zobel coat of arms. Stefan von Zobel donated the church; his wife was a native of Echter. Prince-Bishop Julius Echter donated the 12 Apostles altar.

The artist was Michael Juncker, who created the altarpiece with its Apostles altar, Renaissance portal, and tabernacle. The altarpiece is located in the church in Messelhausen.

The apostles were sent into the world after Phingsten and were the first pilgrims.
