6月 16, 2024, Bedruthan Steps Rock Formations
The steps have probably been closed for a while, as have all beach access at Porthcothan Beach. It's hard to tell from the highlights. The panorama is gigantic, but unfortunately there is no swimming break...

11月 6, 2023, St George's Cove
Just a half mile from Padstow will bring you to St George's Cove. At high tide there is just a small area of sand, it's low tide when the cove really gets to show off its best side. The golden sands are so vast you can walk all the way to Hawker's Cove and Harbour Cove. Facing out into the Camel Estuary, it is lovely and sheltered but sadly it isn't a swimming beach, as tempting as it looks. The currents in the estuary are very strong and very dangerous. Enjoy the views over to Rock and Daymer Bay instead.

Breathtakingly beautiful rocks of the Bedruthan Steps. Unfortunately, access to the NT car park has been closed for some time due to a rock slide. From the viewpoint and the surrounding cliffs you can still enjoy the view of the rocks and the beach.

If you are coming from Padstow, you can look forward to the hustle and bustle easing again.

These rocks on the beach are a great spot. They invite you to marvel, climb and take photos. Unfortunately the access has been closed for a while due to a rock slide. The National Trust café upstairs has the best cream teas and a nice shop next door.

7月 12, 2022, Roche Rock Chapel Ruins
Roche Rock is a granite outcrop looming 20m high. On top of the rock is the ruin of a chapel built in 1409. There are plenty of legends surrounding the chapel. It is thought to have been lived in by a hermit and his daughter, hence another popular name for it being Roche Rock Hermitage. In medieval times it is said to have been occupied by a landowning family who had leprosy and wanted to protect loved ones from catching it. The demon of Jan Tregeagle, an evil Cornish magistrate who was said to have made a pact with the devil in return for power, fame and success, tried to hide at Roche Rock after being set a series of impossible tasks to keep him out of hell until Judgement Day. When the wind is blowing you might even hear wailing coming from the chapel walls.

7月 7, 2022, Natural Arch at Porthcothan Bay
For Poldark fans, this was the beach used as Nampara Cove for the popular BBC series. The cliffs above are where Ross was frequently seen riding his horse. Although small where Porthcothan Bay meets land, at low tide it widens out to reveal a network of coves and caves at either end of the beach. There are public toilets, plus a shop and lifeguard cover during the summer (May to September).

On our hike from Porthcothan we walked to Neqquay and down the cliffs to the beach and back up the stairs. What started off harmless at first turned out to be a tricky climb. What initially looks like a path is not a path. Everyone in our squad is fit and sure-footed. But for security reasons, I strongly advise anyone to do the same. Stay on the Coast Path and take the stairs.

7月 4, 2019, Bedruthan Steps Rock Formations
Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps comprise an iconic stretch of coastline synonymous with shipwrecks and smugglers. The granite rocks that are dotted across the beach are stepping stones for the Giant Bedruthan, according to legend. You can access the golden sands of the beach via a steep and narrow set of steps cut into the cliffs at low tide.

A breathtaking rocky coast. A narrow staircase leads to the extensive sandy beach at low tide. Swimming is prohibited due to strong currents. A paid parking and campsite is available for visitors. For a visit, we recommend a look at the tide calendar.

From the car park (Paid National Trust), walk along the cliffs for about 500 meters along safe trails to the Betruthan Steps. The National Trust describes the Betruthan Steps as a "dramatic coastline overlooking large rocks". A staircase leads to the beach which can only be reached at low tide. Before you go up the stairs to the beach you should look at the tide table at the door which is before the tide again at the stairs. In the parking lot is a gift shop, a tea room and a toilet, for the opening hours please follow the link https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/carnewas-at-bedruthan?PlaceMapClick=65 Of course, after the opening hours you can still park and watch the fantastic sunsets.

The gigantic rock landscape down by the beach, the incredible flower splendor on top of the cliffs - a wonderful landscape! "Breathtaking!" - literally. Steep steps lead down to the beach. Those who want to descend must pay attention to the tides. At high tide the beach is completely under water and access via the stairs is closed.
