8月 6, 2025, Charlestown Harbour
The harbor lock is still under repair. Currently, there are no ships worth seeing in the harbor. Just an old shipwreck. So, nothing really worth seeing.

Charlestown Harbour is the last open 18th-century Georgian harbour in the UK and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Renowned for its historic tall ships and picturesque setting, the harbour remains a vibrant working port and a popular filming location for TV and film productions such as Poldark and Taboo.

The Harbour gate failed in a recent storm due in part to a long-term lack of maintenance. As a result, the ships that were in the harbour all have been stranded every time the tide goes out. They have recently put shipping containers filled with aggregate where the gate was to keep water in as a temporary "fix"

Managed by the National Trust, Lantic Bay is actually two beaches, Little Lantic and Great Lantic. You can access the sand by a set of steep steps but it is also very popular to visit by boat. Being off the beaten track, dogs are welcome on this beach all year round.

The magnificent garden, laid out at the end of the 19th century, fell into disrepair after the Second World War and was completely overgrown. Finally, one could hardly recognize anything of its original splendor - it was lost "lost". The Lost Garden was then rediscovered in the 1990s and restored to its original form by Tim Smit. In the meantime huge rhododendron trees had grown. This story makes the garden so special. A once lost garden has been revived in its old splendour. But even without that history, it's a very worth seeing place.

7月 12, 2022, Roche Rock Chapel Ruins
Roche Rock is a granite outcrop looming 20m high. On top of the rock is the ruin of a chapel built in 1409. There are plenty of legends surrounding the chapel. It is thought to have been lived in by a hermit and his daughter, hence another popular name for it being Roche Rock Hermitage. In medieval times it is said to have been occupied by a landowning family who had leprosy and wanted to protect loved ones from catching it. The demon of Jan Tregeagle, an evil Cornish magistrate who was said to have made a pact with the devil in return for power, fame and success, tried to hide at Roche Rock after being set a series of impossible tasks to keep him out of hell until Judgement Day. When the wind is blowing you might even hear wailing coming from the chapel walls.

From wiki: The Lost Gardens of Heligan (Cornish: Lowarth Helygen, meaning "willow tree garden"), near Mevagissey in Cornwall, are one of the most popular botanical gardens in the UK. The gardens are typical of the 19th century Gardenesque style with areas of different character and in different design styles.

Heligan Cafe. Good food. Good for vegans and vegetarians while also (so I'm told) having good meat from neighbouring Lobbs farm. Pizza, Jacket potatoes, quiche, frittata and salad are our favourites.

Beautiful beach. The Daphne Du Maurer trail passes by the beach above the coast. If you have swimming gear with you, you can plunge into the turquoise-blue water. The steep path to and especially from the beach is a bit difficult. Too much swimming / bathing equipment is therefore not recommended.
