Good climb, was across fields but fine today as they’ve been harvested. Might have been tricky earlier in the year

Lovely place for a picnic whilst on my walk but it was a teeny bit rainy. I am sure the view is awesome if it is clear.

A 14th century church for the parish of Stourton.

Set amidst classic Wiltshire countryside of rolling chalk downland dotted with ancient remnants of human habitation, Cold Kitchen Hill rises above the Deverills - a series of villages set along the valley of the River Deverill. Head for the trig point at the top.

Slightly steep up hill, once at the top, you get rewarded with beautiful views over the valley and woodland

A little hidden away in the meadow behind Silton's St Nicholas' church, Wyndham's Oak will have your jaw on the floor. Thought to be perhaps 1,000 years old, this is one of the ancient oaks that sit on the edge of the medieval hunting ground of Gillingham Forest. As you'd expect for something of this age, it goes by several names; Judge's Tree and Silton Oak are two of its others. Its extraordinary trunk circumference stands at 38 feet (12 m) but it was most certainly larger in its younger days. Marked on maps, this aged oak has to be seen to be believed.

A fun section. Quite exposed and not loads of grip on a gravel bike in December, but I liked it!
