Nice ride out to Redlake, but then using a map, gps and standing on top of the hill, unable to find the track to Avon dam. Really disappointing.

Very cool but currently not permitted to wild camp. Still a fantastic place for a dip!

The Hoe is a large limestone plateau on the edge of which is the citadel. In the park on the Hoe there is a large collection of impressive monuments to the great seafaring nation, including the first circumnavigator Francis Drake, the victory over the Spanish Armada and the two World Wars. Built in front of the sea is the Tinside seawater outdoor pool in Art Deco style, which is definitely worth looking for, and the huge, freely accessible sea bathing area right next to it with a bit of Lost Place charm.

Great spot for a swim or watching the horses take a drink

Amazing place for a wild swim with safety to consider first, moderate trail with some elevation.

Situated just off Burrator Reservoir, in the wooded area… It’s like stepping into a world of fantasy.

The Hoe is really the heart of Plymouth; a huge greenspace with dramatic memorials, Smeaton's Tower and unrivalled views. In summer, the grass is covered with people having picnics, throwing frisbees and admiring the fantastic panorama of Plymouth Sound. It's a wonderful place to watch the boats and come for a walk.

Under the peak of Leather Tor, this gorgeous packhorse bridge dates back to the 1830s, constructed using moorstone, aka unquarried Dartmoor granite. It crosses Riddipitt Stream, a lovely place for a cooling paddle or dip!

Great view and you often see horses. If you keep walking along the path, you can sometimes see sheep and fluffy cows too.

it's not exactly undiscovered but cool. apparently the quarry is filled with water from a spring.

This deep hidden pool is one of the finest places for a wild swim on Dartmoor, and a nice wild camping spot as you can wild camp legally on Dartmoor.

Western Beacon is Dartmoor’s most southerly beacon and affords breathtaking views over Ivybridge and the South Hams. The summit is scattered with ancient cairns, too.

Also here you’ll see signs that peat was dug and transported on a wooden tramway (South Zeal Tramway) down to Shipley where it was distilled into naphtha. That track is a nice biking route but quite tricky with lots of granite boulders (the track was bolted to the granite) and quite boggy.

China clay was extracted here (1912 - 1933) and after settling was transported in ceramic pipes down to be processed in the drying works at Cantrell near Ivybridge (now called The Clay Factory). The track leading here (known as the Puffing Billy locally) was used by a narrow gauge railway which transported workers between here and Bittaford. There are ruins nearby of a hostel where workers stayed.
