The former house and gardens of the chemist and inventor Otto Overbeck now belong to the National Trust. The eccentric Otto designed, among other things, the "rejuvenation apparatus". Electrodes were attached to the body and were supposed to work wonders. These and many other oddities can be admired in Overbeck's when the house is open. At the moment it is not because of renovation work! But the gardens are fantastically beautiful and worth a visit on their own. They exude southern charm - visitors almost forget that they are in England. There are only a few parking spaces, so it is better to walk here. Good food is available at the Gastrobus, where you can borrow a basket and enjoy the food in the beautiful garden. Very stylish! We have been here a few times over the years and have always been totally impressed

Road bridge over River Avon. C17 or C18 packhorse bridge with hump back and widened on upstream side. Stone rubble. single round arch. Large stone slabs forming string with parapets above with large granite coping stones. Look Up as well as down for some great view of the archaeology.

Great view and you often see horses. If you keep walking along the path, you can sometimes see sheep and fluffy cows too.

Originally built for packhorses, the Avon cascades underneath Lydia bridge, it's name is a Saxon word for white water

Western Beacon is Dartmoor’s most southerly beacon and affords breathtaking views over Ivybridge and the South Hams. The summit is scattered with ancient cairns, too.

Very picturesque bridge of the River Avon with great views upstream from the bridge. Need to go downstream and scramble over the rocks for a good view up to the bridge. Great place to kick back and enjoy the view ride or walk or just picnic.

South Sands is one of the most unspoilt beaches in South Devon. It’s located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the mouth of the estuary. South Sands is actually part of a cove so is sheltered from the sea winds and affords a delightful sun trap if you want to relax.
