After leaving the beautiful Lake Mis behind, the gorge narrows and the road gains a little height, passing through successive galleries and tunnels dug directly into the rock. It's a wonderful place that rivals the Sottoguda Gorge on the climb to Marmolada.

At the Le Vette Grandi pass, at almost 2,000 meters above sea level, you can admire an amphitheater of rock and pastures with a network of paths that run through the valley, including that of the Alta Via 2 which connects the Boz refuge, the Piaz refuge and the Croce d'Aune pass. Many of the trails in this area have some technical sections but most of them can be done running. Nearby, the summit of Col Cesta is easily reachable, and another extraordinary trail is to follow the ridge up to Mount Pavione.
