カスタニョーレピエモンテの天然記念物・トップ5

This willow tree is listed as a Monumental Tree of Italy for its exceptional characteristics: being protected, it has lived longer than the average tree for its species, and has also been pollarded much less frequently, resulting in a rare size for its species. It is located at the intersection of Rotta Canova and Entonnoir dei Prati, and is indicated by a descriptive sign. The surrounding panorama is breathtaking. It's certainly worth a stop.

In 2018, Vittoria Bussi set the women's hour record (which she then lost, then regained in 2023 and further improved in 2025). A sign, signed by Vittoria Bussi herself, reminds us that the cyclist used the straight stretch of the Strada Reale di Stupinigi to prepare for the record. Riding the same road at my "slow pace" (cit.) is a notable contrast, but it's nice to think that you're riding on the same playing field as the champions.

Very nice circular route

A few steps from the historic center of Carmagnola there is a protected area of great naturalistic interest: La Lanca di San Michele, an ancient riverbed, now abandoned, which has been transformed into a beautiful wetland rich in flora and fauna typical of the river environment and the Bosco del Gerbasso where, thanks to valuable scientific work, a strip of the original Po Valley plain forest has been recreated. Inside there is a beach, picnic area, observation points and many other points of interest.

One of the springs that give the name to the nearby cycle path. Not always active, as it is a rising groundwater table, and in periods of drought it is dry: but when there is water, it is a spectacle. Nearby, a beautiful green area. Nice stopover point.

Monumental oak on the bank of the stream, in a very pleasant position. It is not immediate to get there, because the most comfortable road (from the Madonna degli Orti) is, at least in theory, closed by a gate with private access; but it can be reached quite comfortably from the Bertrand forest. Huge tree, worth the visit.

Along the cycle path there is this point, which in normal times is filled with water from a resurgence, but due to the drought of recent months it is completely dry. In addition to the resurgence there are some picnic areas in the shade, very pleasant in the summer months.
