The Ladby Ship is a Viking ship discovered in 1935 by the Odense pharmacist and amateur archaeologist Poul Helweg Mikkelsen. It was excavated and cast in concrete in 1937. After the excavation, it became clear that the ship had served as a burial site, meaning that the ship had been buried with its captain. The ship grave is now the center of the Ladby Viking Museum, which, with the grave and the museum building, tells the story of the Vikings in Denmark, their lives and deaths. https://villavilla.de/attraktionen/fuenen-und-seine-inseln/ladbymuseum/

Munkebo Hill A Viking Age power center with perhaps the most beautiful view of Funen and the experience is free. A family of Viking kings from Funen lived on Munkebo Hill. Archaeological excavations have revealed a settlement here, a power center from the late Iron Age and Viking Age (ca. 550-950 AD) at the top of the hill. Several Viking Age houses, pit houses, and a mighty "King's Hall" surrounded by a strong wooden wall have been found. From here, the King of Ladby could control the surrounding landscape, overlooking Odense Fjord, Kertinge Nor, and the Great Belt. At the top of the observation tower, you are 58 meters above sea level, and you have fantastic views in all directions. The Viking Age and the region's history are told through posters at the information center or can be experienced through play. The information center has a restroom with wheelchair access. Bakken has many tables and benches where you can enjoy your packed lunch or coffee in beautiful surroundings. https://www.visitkerteminde.dk/kerteminde/planlaeg-din-tur/munkebo-bakke-gdk739069

From up here, you'll enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Funen. From the 58-meter-high observation tower, you'll enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the island—the short detour is well worth it.

Funen's most beautiful view - enjoy it from the hill and from the top of the tower, which is 58 m above sea level - or sit in the Viking ship - there is a copy of the Ladby ship - and dream that you are around the world sailing - you can also immerse yourself in the many panels with the marked Viking finds and, last but not least, in the information house, where the history of Der Hügel is illustrated. There is a disabled toilet in the information center. There are many tables/benches on the hill where you can enjoy the food or coffee you brought with you in the most beautiful surroundings while the children play in the Viking ship or in the labyrinth.

The Damesten (also Dammesten) weighs over 1,000 tons, making it Denmark's largest erratic boulder. It was first described in 1623 according to other sources in 1763. At that time, only the top looked out of the ground. The geologist Johann Georg Forchhammer examined the stone from 1840 and had it exposed on one side up to the lower edge in 1843. The huge block of granite stone was transported here from southern Sweden during the last Ice Age. Numerous myths and legends are entwined around the lady. There are a few parking spaces at the roadside, tables and benches invite you to take a rest in this spectacular place. https://www.geus.dk/udforsk-geologien/ture-i-naturen/kaempesten/dammestenen
