Navajo Lake is a peaceful high-altitude break along the Markagunt Plateau, especially welcome after the steady climbs around Duck Creek Village. The shoreline road rolls through cool pine forest with quiet views of the water. There’s also a mellow singletrack loop around the lake, great for beginner mountain bikers if you want to stretch your legs off the pavement. Services are limited, but the Spruces Campground and small store make it a reliable stop for water or a quick resupply before heading toward Zion.

Navajo Reservoir is a small reservoir off of Navajo Lake. It is a popular spot for fishing, boating and swimming. There is a path that runs along the perimeter of the water.

After scrambling your way down from the parking area you'll need to take a swim in the cool water. Amazing experience to swim among the towering rocks.

A source of water this large in the middle of the desert is hard to come by, as such the Jackson Flat Reservoir is an excellent place to spot wildlife. The paved trail that encircles the reservoir means it's easily accessible to the whole family, but the lack of shade means it's best as a morning or evening hike if you're here during the heat of summer.

From here, you can enjoy views of the beach. Depending on lake levels, you might find a great swimming spot right off the ramp. It's a perfect place to hop off your bike and take a swim.

This spot where the Escalante River and Lake Powell meet is a sight to be seen. The bright blue water in contrast with the starkly red rock can take your breath away, that is if the hike up didn't already. This spot is a common place for people to pitch a tent if they decide to make this into a multiday hike.
