Saint-Légerの主な活動

The current castle is very recent. It was built in 1960 at the request of the owners, the Otreppe de Bouvette family, based on plans by architect Emile Godin. The previous castle was severely damaged in both world wars and fell into disrepair.

You need to arm yourself with a little courage to climb from Habay, and then enjoy the beautiful scenery and the return descent!

At this site, fed by two tributary streams of the Ton, ironworks are believed to have been carried out as early as the 15th century. Column furnaces (internationally renowned and still highly sought after today), chimney backs, and pumps were manufactured here. On some roads in the region and in the surrounding villages, you can still see sewer inspection chamber signs bearing the inscription "Ateliers et fonderie Dominicy Châtillon" (Dominicy Châtillon Workshops and Foundry). These establishments later specialized in the manufacture of agricultural machinery. The factory enjoyed great prosperity during the interwar period. But in 1966, it was forced to close its doors permanently.

Deep in the Etalle forest, the Fourneau Marchant fishery will allow the whole family to learn how to fish. For children under 10, it's free, and pond fishing is ideal for our little beginners. 15 euros for a half-day. Different species of trout are available, including rainbow trout, native to our beautiful Gaume region. Feeling peckish? Pleasant route without too much elevation gain, worth doing!

Magnificent estate of 1721 hectares Located north of Lacuisine and west of Chiny, it belongs to the CPAS of the city of Mons, which inherited it in 1887. This sublime estate includes 1,500 hectares of forests and four artificial ponds fed by several streams, including the Tamij-Austria, a tributary of the Semois. The ponds of the Epioux are the last witnesses of the important metallurgical past of our region. Indeed, for more than three centuries, the estate experienced intense metallurgical activity. Since the end of this industrial activity, the only profitable economic activity has been that of forest production. Today, the large forest of the Epioux is a magnificent forest. Several beautiful walks cross the estate.
