The Oosterschelde is a beloved nature reserve for bird lovers. Due to the interplay of tides between ebb and flow, a changing and unique landscape is created here daily. Countless birds search for food on the exposed mudflats; you will encounter many waders there in particular. Find a sheltered spot in the hide and observe in silence. And who knows... you might be the lucky one to spot a grey plover.

What a beautiful place, cyclists are not allowed here, wonderfully peaceful walking and enjoying.

It's a very short dead end point on your trip, but worth it.

If you're traveling without a dog, try to enter the bird sanctuary along the road. Otherwise, the route continues for several kilometers along a bike path – not ideal!

Here you have a view of an area where migratory birds rest on their route. With a bit of patience you have a chance of very nice pictures. Don't forget your binoculars!

The birdwatching hut is freely accessible and easy to reach because a wooden path has been constructed through the reed fields. The birdwatching hut overlooks an area with mudflats. This is a popular breeding area for avocets and little ringed plovers. In the reed beds you will find marsh harriers, water rails, bearded titmice, bluethroats, reed warblers and reed buntings. Sometimes you will see spotted crake, bittern and other special species. During the migration period you can see many wading birds, such as ruff, sandpiper, white-tailed godwit, black-tailed godwit, green-legged godwit, wood sandpiper, curlew sandpiper and little stint. Shelducks, Eurasian wigeons and common teals can also be seen here. Many grey geese stay in the area all year round, they breed in the extensive reed fields. Many lapwings, black-tailed godwits and redshanks can be found in the low-lying meadows.

Beautiful vantage point where you can observe the protagonists in nature. It's up to you to recognize these feathered friends.

In these layers, a puddle-dras situation is present in combination with small islands. This makes this area very valuable as a breeding and foraging area for marsh, meadow and coastal birds. Birds foraging in the Oosterschelde also emerge in the inlays and inlays have an important function as a high-tide refuge. Species such as silver plover, curlew, bar-tailed godwit, dunlin and knot wait in densely packed masses for a favorable tide.
