Naturism emerged around 1900 in the context of the life reform movement, which aimed to renew the entire way of life (nutrition, clothing, housing, health and body care). In connection with medical and naturopathic concepts, which since the end of the 18th century have attributed a special health-promoting effect to naked "bathing in light, air and sun", the naked body is "rediscovered" as the "most natural" expression of physicality. The advocates of nudism (the term nudism only came into use after the First World War) upgrade nudity to a truly moral and "natural" way of life. In doing so, they openly reverse the accusation of their opponents that they violate morality and "good manners". They propagate practised nudity as a means of "liberation" from a "disease-causing" way of life in a "sick" society. [Source: FKK Verein Hildesheim] In short: #GetNakedGermany 🙏✨️

The three-part Firstensteinbruch is one of the largest quarries in the Königshain Mountains. It is located below the summit of the Firstenstein rock formation. Local residents call the area Lehmloch (clay hole) because of the high proportion of clay in the rock. The water in the Firstensteinbruch reaches a depth of 15 meters.

You can climb the rock and then have a good all-round view, but not recommended when there is snow

The granite mountains of Königshain were probably the reason for the quarrying of the rock as early as the 16th century, since the cleavage was favorable here and the stones were relatively easy to break. From 1844 stone quarrying increased massively, so that the entire area of the mountains was covered by a large number of quarries and stone quarrying killed most of the interesting rock formations. The last quarry was not closed until 1975 and only the local open-air museum reminds of the work. Source: https://www.flickr.com/

the Totenstein (373m) was unfortunately closed off and not accessible, although there are stairs leading to it.

Nice viewpoint in the forest at the quarry. A very exciting rock formation; You get to the top via a very well-fortified staircase; The way to the Teufelsstein is definitely worth it

The best-known still existing rock group is the approximately ten meter high Totenstein. The rock served as a cult site in prehistory and early history and has been known as a find site since the 17th century. Numerous testimonies were found here by Carl Adolph Gottlob von Schachmann. The oldest finds (including ceramic shards, bronze jewelry remains, arrowheads) date from the Middle Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age and are therefore over 3000 years old. In addition, numerous high and late medieval ceramic shards were recovered. Due to the great research interest in the Totenstein, it was placed under protection by the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV during a visit in 1844 as a "monument of prehistoric times".
