The Butterberg is almost 384 meters high and is located just a few kilometers from the center of Bischofswerda. At the summit there is an inn in historic walls with a 21 meter high observation tower. You can find more information and opening times here: http://www.butterberg.com/.

The Czorneboh is one of the highlights in the region. Many visitors flock here especially at the weekend. There are ascents of various difficulties to the summit. I chose the crossing from Hromadnik over the ridge. Adventurous but very cool. There is refreshment in the mountain hut and then you definitely have to go up the tower. The view to the west and north is wonderful. Unfortunately, towards the south and east, the trees are now taller than the tower. Since 1867 there has been a station of the Royal Saxon Triangulation on the tower. The granite pillar in the tower structure is a reminder of this. Like all mountain inns, a worthwhile destination. Here you can take a wonderful break both outside and inside. Unfortunately, the guest rooms are no longer available. The observation tower should definitely be climbed. The view extends far over the mountains on one side and far into the flatter north. The actual summit of Czorneboh is a little away from the inn.

A worthwhile summit with a hut, dishes are "handmade" and there is also wheat beer on tap and many other things. There is a great panoramic view from the tower.

According to tradition, the name of the mountain came about during the Thirty Years' War. At that time, the farmers of the area drove their cattle up this mountain to find protection and refuge. On the other hand, Theodor Schütze says: "The name can hardly have anything to do with calves that were supposedly hidden in the mountain forest during the Thirty Years' War."
