The bridge is founded on approximately 18 m long concrete piles. The pavement is made entirely of mountain larch. The railing is made of steel with a round handrail. The Hooksieler Binnentief is an artificial lake that was created during the expansion of the Jade shipping channel for large ships and the reclamation of the coastal section up to Wilhelmshaven.

The Hooksmeer is in an idyllic location between the "Old Harbor" and the lock at the Hooksiel Outer Harbor. To connect the round island and the NLG construction area to the town of Hohenkirchen, an approximately 325 m long wooden bridge was built for pedestrians and cyclists.
