An interesting relic from a bygone era. It's a shame you can't go inside. Oh well. From here you also have a lovely view of Schielleiten Castle and, beyond it on the horizon, Riegersburg Castle. Above the ruins, there's a bench with an equally beautiful view!

Today, Stubenberg Castle, freshly restored, greets the hilly landscape of eastern Styria. The 13th-century complex, which was expanded into a palace in the 16th century on the foundations of the old castle's farmyard, takes its name from one of Styria's oldest and most important noble families, the Lords of Stubenberg. From 1925 to 1979, Stubenberg Castle housed the Franciscan Convent of St. Joseph. In 1980, it became private property.

Due to its size and floor plan, the baroque church is often referred to as the "Styrian St. Peter's Cathedral". For those interested in culture, the Pöllau parish church with its magnificent baroque frescoes is definitely worth seeing.
