This striking hill (101 m above sea level) with its old tree is visible from afar. It looks atmospheric, and it is. Standing by the tree and gazing at the landscape is a wonderful feeling. You can observe cranes, especially on a short detour into the hinterland, but the grassy paths are very poor, and you always have to be prepared for a cattle pasture to make further progress impossible. At least a relatively easy loop is possible, leading over to the designated rest area. Although this is also somewhat higher up, the view is rather boring.

A truly peaceful place with a magnificent view. Even the solitary tree at the top of this hill has a mystical quality. Unfortunately, access is often difficult or even impossible, as the grassy path along the edge is rarely mowed. Even the old signage from the heyday is no longer there. You turn off at the front of the guesthouse into the grounds, which is charming in itself. Those arriving by car must/should park elsewhere.

It is beautifully hilly here at the southern end of the lake.

In the middle of the Schorfheide, about 100m from a main path, is the "summit" of the Kohlenberg. There you will find a partly covered rest area. The Kohlenberg is located in the middle of an older and sparse pine population. There is still no sign of natural regeneration or substructure. I didn't notice any signs along the main path. If you don't know anything about the service area, you can easily walk past it. The highlight is the small summit book. It can be found in a "nest box" on a tree.

Magnificent all-round view from the summit. Several benches invite you to linger. A large map provides an overview.

A short, crisp ascent over a good 140 wooden steps. Grandiose all-round view from above.

With a height of 78 meters, the Spitzberg is only a hill, but it is still worth the climb. There is a very dilapidated small wooden bench at the top. A boulder with an inscription adorns the foot.
