As the information board reveals, in the days before refrigerators and freezers, such ponds were used to collect ice and use it to cool food. Today, small amphibians find a home in them.

The swan pond complex at the city library was created in the early 1960s, when Bergheim's main train station was moved to its current location. The time when it was built can still be seen today in the specific nature of individual design elements, such as railings and handrails or the sandstone walls at today's children's playground. The past 50 years have caused the complex to age considerably, and many changes to the edges and inside have watered down and distorted the original design, so that the current complex no longer has any recognizable original character. romantic, small and fine

The main train station stood here until it was moved to its current location. In the park with a large pond, a monument reminds us that the train station was used in 1940 to transport fellow citizens of the Jewish faith to Gurs - as was the case throughout Baden and the Palatinate. Most of them didn't survive.
