Worth climb to the cairn for the downhill section on the main access road. Then drop into single track round the back lanes of Carharrack. Sweet! :)

Alongside being an ideal place to park your car for a walk around St Stithians Reservoir, there is also a great cafe here at the activity centre. You can hire watersports equipment here, from kayaks to paddleboards to sailing boats or even launch your own craft. There is also a lakeside campsite should you want to stay overnight. Sitithians Lake is the largest inland water in West Cornwall and boasts a variety of watersports at an activity centre, fishing, lakeside walking and a café. The lake is a reservoir, dammed in 1967 which submerged 274 acres of farmland. This bridge was created to replace roads that were now under water.

Portreath is a a small coastal village with a very narrow harbour and sandy beach. Rather than fish, this port was used to import Welsh coal and export copper. The original loading ramp can still be seen and given the narrowness of the harbour, navigating it must have been very difficult and dangerous. There are several cafes and shops in Portreath if you are in need of refuelling and/or rehydrating.
