In 1316, the nobleman Otto von Ahaus received permission from Bishop Ludwig II of Münster to build a castle in the swampy Garbrock area. The financial means were available to him because he had inherited the Lordship of Lohn that same year – including the castle in Stadtlohn and the Lordship of Bredevoort with its castle. Otto owed this inheritance to his marriage to the sister of a deceased Lord von Lohn. Since his sons had predeceased him, the entire inheritance went to Otto. Very beautiful water castle. Unfortunately you can only admire them through the bushes.

Haus Horst is a 16th-century moated castle. It is located in the municipality of Heek. A family cemetery is located nearby on Van-Dalwigk-Straße.

A havezathe is a fortified house, homestead, court or farm. Originally it was the name for a large farm with land. In the 17th century, possession of a manor is a condition for being a member of a knighthood. That havezathe had to be defensible. That is why there is a moat around it. In recent centuries, Havezathe de Kamp has been renovated and renovated several times. In 1782 the stepped gables disappear and in 1871 the canal is filled in. De Kamp loses its castle-like appearance. After the re-excavation of the canal by the Municipality of Neede and the most recent alterations and renovations, Havezathe de Kamp has regained its authentic appearance.
