Simply spectacularly beautiful

There's no longer a definite path here. When it rains, everything floods, and it was also a bit muddy and sticky. Just follow the animal tracks. But a few meters further on, the path continues uphill again, along a small trail.

There's a fairly good path here that ends at a house. But I have no idea if it was still inhabited. Sometimes it's hard to tell. 🤣🫣

You can also explore the abandoned part of the village. Super interesting.

Magnificent view of the Aliano gullies

The town is above all famous for hosting Carlo Levi during his confinement in the south during the Fascist era. Levi was in fact an opponent of Mussolini's regime and in these places he wrote his famous novel "Christ Stopped at Eboli". Aliano is the place where the novel is set even if in the book it is called Gagliano.

What to say, if you want to have a panoramic view of the badlands of Basilicata this is definitely the right place.
