A beautiful farm where you can buy homemade and other Danish products from Thursday to Sunday. Four different shops can be found on the farm, from a butcher to a dairy/ice cream shop to a specialty shop with delicatessen and a barn selling pottery and art, and in front of which is a large market stall with vegetables, fruit, and plants. There's also a restaurant and a separate restroom where you can relieve yourself outside of opening hours. The farm was the perfect place to start your vacation with basics like Leverpostej, Danbo with caraway seeds, and an ice cream. 😉 I considered it a good sign that many locals also do their shopping at the farm. Snaptun Harbour, or Snaptun Harbor, is a charming maritime spot on Horsens Fjord in East Jutland, Denmark. It is a lively place bustling with sailors, ferry passengers and nature lovers. The harbor serves as a gateway to the nearby islands of Hjarnø and Endelave with regular ferry connections. The harbor area is known for its cozy atmosphere, where visitors can enjoy a relaxing day by the water, perhaps with an ice cream in hand while listening to the sounds of the sailboat masts clinking in the wind. The surrounding area offers beautiful nature trails, especially in the nearby Tønballe Forest, which offers stunning views of the fjord and its islands.

Small harbor with a correspondingly small ferry to the island of Hyarnö

The marina in Snaptun has 71 permanent berths. What was special for us was that two ferries depart from here to the islands of Hjarnö and Endelave.

From Hjarnø, the bicycle ferry continues to Alrø. From there, the tour around the fjord can be continued. It is advisable to book a ticket online (https://www.kystlandet.de/kystlandet/reiseplanung/die-fahrradfaehre-alro-hjarno-gdk608696), as only 12 bicycles are taken on board. Since the ferry runs very infrequently, it would be annoying to have to turn around.

The 13th-century Nordby Church was built in the midst of four villages that were then on the North Island. As a result, the church is just outside of Nordby and townspeople may have trouble hearing the church bells. Therefore, a simple bell tower was built on the village square as early as the 17th century. The current tower was built in 1857. The bell rang the sun up and down, during services and other church activities, or in the event of a fire, which posed a grave threat to the village's many thatched houses and farms. Today the ringing of the bell is done by a volunteer ringing guild. The bells no longer ring for services, but rather at sunrise and sunset from Easter through the autumn half term and on Saturdays and Sundays the rest of the year. However, at Christmas the bells ring every day. Source: www.visitdenmark.dk

Nordby is a historic farming village with well-preserved half-timbered houses. The lovingly cared-for appearance of the place makes it a popular destination, and rightly so. Suitable as a starting point for a hike to Ballebjerg and Issehovede.
