The northern part is difficult to follow, a tiny goat path with lots of brambles. So we move very slowly. It is preferable to have high shoes and trousers.

The sign says: ARGO, A PREHISTORIC VESSEL OF THE 15th CENTURY b.c. WHICH WAS CONSTRUCTED BY JASON AT ANCIENT IOLKOS AFTER ATHENA'S SUGGESTION According to the legend. Jason undertakes the task of returning the golden fleece, from Colchis. For this accomplishment he invites all the brave heroes of his area who were known as the "ARGONAUTS", in order to accompany him on this huge adventure. The vessel was built by Argo's, from whom it also took its name "ARGO". This Vessel was reconstructed from Volos Municipality under the supervision of the Institute "Navdomos".

I completed the route in March 2025, and as @hitselgazinga mentioned, the path had been seriously damaged by floods. Because of this, near the end—towards the top—it turns into a bit of a messy scramble. It's still doable, but it's no longer the easy walk it probably once was.

The village of Makrinitsa is idyllically situated on the hillside and has a great view of the city of Volos and the Pagasetic Gulf.

Fakistra has gained a few meters in depth as a beach after the devastating storms in September 2023, so there is more space for visitors. Really wonderful, spectacular bay. But no water on site (and no bar etc.).

The best place to stop is Apostolis. It has the best terrace right in the harbor and a fabulous kitchen.

A beautiful bay to swim and cool off. There is a restaurant where you can fortify yourself. Until the end of June, the sun loungers and parasols that have been set up are given away free of charge if you eat something.

Nice town with a square that overlooks Volos. There is a bakery with delicious bread and oven-fresh pies, next door an expresso bar with delicious coffee and a cozy (and tasty) restaurant. Nice town to spend some time.

More of a walk or a stage than a hike, but absolutely recommendable. Beautiful path along a stream. Surefootedness required. Attention: the last, very overgrown piece is home to snakes, if in doubt, do without the last 200 meters.

Amazing!! A perfect combination of water, trees , stone, leaves and smell!

The hike from Makrirrachi can be taken from both sides of the valley and closed to a loop. However, due to a landslide mid 2020 the northern path was inaccessible. The southern path leads you through the thick wild green of the forest and rewards with the freshness of the waterfalls. On some spots you can take a dive!
