この乾燥谷の形成は氷河期にまでさかのぼります。さまざまな土壌タイプのおかげで、谷には多様な植物が育ち、それが多くの動物を引き付けています。その中には、生態学的に非常に価値があり、ヨーロッパの保護を受けているものもあります。このように多くの動物をここで見ることができるのは、谷の形成史とすべて関係があるのです。急な南西向きの斜面は、自然保護区の他の部分よりも石灰分が多く含まれています。その特定の土壌と斜面の微気候により、石灰質のカマグラスランドがここで非常によく育ちます。これらの草原は、バッタやチョウなどの昆虫の楽園です。北東向きの、はるかに緩やかな斜面は、ほとんどが牧草地と高木果樹園で構成されており、種多様性の高いカマグラスランドとグリンスハバーグラスランドのモザイク状になっています。自然・森林局は、特定の草原を維持・発展させたいと考えています。私たちは、地元の農家と協力して、部分的な刈り取りとそれに続く放牧を行うことで、これを実現しています。サンザシの生け垣も毎年剪定されています。いくつかの古い、高く成長した生け垣はそのままにして、ベリーや花でいっぱいの木立を作っています。

The Moulin du Broukay is a former flint mill on the Geer River near Eben-Emael, built in the 1950s as an industrial flint-grinding mill. It primarily served the Meuse Valley foundations but later fell into disrepair. Today, it is a renovated cultural and recreational center with a café-restaurant, meeting and function rooms, and a starting point for hiking trails in the Montagne Saint-Pierre. The area is part of the "Archéo et Géo Espaces - Moulin du Broukay," which showcases the geology, archaeology, and industrial history of the Jeker/Geer Valley.

The Veurs Valley is one of the most characteristic and ecologically valuable valleys in the Voer region. It is located around the hamlet of Veurs (Sint-Martens-Voeren) and is characterized by a small-scale, undulating cultural landscape with stream valleys, sloping forests, standard orchards, and half-timbered farms.

Very nice location. Something major seems to have happened here over the weekend (late August 25th), and the following Monday there was a big cleanup.
