Straußberg Castle, a 13th-century fortification that has received little attention to date, certainly has a lot to offer, even if spectacular events or significant figures have unfortunately not yet been discovered. Research is still in its infancy. Its location, secluded in the wooded mountains of the Hainleite, also prevents it from becoming a dominant focal point. The Frauenberg was probably already a cult site, a sacrificial site, and a castle-fortification complex with four sections in pre-Christian times. During the GDR era, an East German radio tower of the NVA (National People's Army) was located on the mountain plateau. Today, you can enjoy the views "of the countryside," which are also well explained by numerous information panels.
