The Forester's Stone was inaugurated at the end of 2017. The Bleicherode-Südharz Forestry Office intended it to commemorate the reforestation efforts undertaken centuries ago in the Ilfeld/Stolberg area of the southern Harz Mountains. The main stone of the Forester's Stone weighs 2.4 tons and, like the 17 greywacke stones for the pedestal, comes from the Rothesütte forest district. The memorial stone is surrounded by a deciduous grove of more than 1,500 square meters, planted with 120 European beeches, sycamore maples, pedunculate and red oaks, and horse chestnuts.
