On the Pötzscha side, very close to the ferry, is the window to Wehlen. From there, you can clearly see how the castle once towered over Wehlen.

The Bastei Viewpoint is arguably one of the most famous vantage points in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The panoramic view extends from the holiday resort of Wehlen in the Elbe Valley, over the Rauenstein, Königstein, and Lilienstein mountains, and far into the Upper Saxon Switzerland. Teufelsgrund near Wehlen Between Uttewalder Grund and Wehlen, a path to the right leads to Teufelsgrund. This detour turns out to be a little adventure as you walk through the sinister Herring Cave and climb through the Teufelskammer (Devil's Chamber). It's especially fun for children! The Teufelsgrund (Devil's Ground) is a gorge in Saxon Switzerland, or rather the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, located in the municipality of Lohmen, north of the town of Wehlen. It is named after the neighboring Teufelskammer (Devil's Chamber) and includes the Teufelskammer (Devil's Gorges), the Teufelsschlüchte (Devil's Gorges), and the walkable Heringshöhle (Hering's Cave). The Teufelsgrund (Devil's Ground) rarely has flowing water and no named body of water. "Grund" refers to such narrow valleys in Saxon Switzerland, regardless of whether they currently contain flowing water or not. At the end of the gorge, you climb a few steps. It's not a particularly strenuous task, but the scenery is certainly worth seeing.
