Teufelsgrund near Wehlen Between Uttewalder Grund and Wehlen, a path to the right leads to Teufelsgrund. This detour turns out to be a little adventure as you walk through the sinister Herring Cave and climb through the Teufelskammer (Devil's Chamber). It's especially fun for children! Sometimes you have to walk on all fours through the mud. 🙈

The entrance to the Teufelsgrund is easy to find, you follow the narrow path over hard-packed sand, which is interspersed with polished sandstone chunks and tree roots. The rock walls come ever closer and can be examined more closely. In addition to the omnipresent slanting layers of the Elbe sandstone, you can take a closer look at the structures from the honeycomb weathering.

Deeply cut valleys run through the sandstone of the Upper Saxon Switzerland. There is an almost mystical atmosphere in them.

In March, this highlight is shared by only a few or in some places no one at all and is also easy to reach with a large dog 🐶. Sturdy footwear 🥾 is actually a given in Saxon Switzerland.

Here a steep metal staircase leads down into a deep gorge.

The gorge was good. I walked down from the top and got through the passages easily, but the last one was a challenge. It shouldn't have been smaller🙈😅
