Nice approach from the south down an avenue of trees. Ford is definitely not rideable on road tyres except maybe after a long dry spell - use the footbridge. Road to the north is very broken in stretches.

Don't follow Komoot strictly (like I did) 😉 - obey the signs from farmer/landowner & NCN signs - small mistakes can be forgiven, I suppose, when we new to the area.

A nice connection between Eaton Socon and St Neots if you want to avoid the more congested route through the town centre.

Caught this Heron standing fishing in the middle of Washout Pit.

This is where the original farm stood: you can still see its foundations in the short grass. It was abandoned during the early 1960s when most of the farm became part of the gravel pits. Nowadays, the area is a flower rich grassland area, supporting many meadow species. There also used to be a ferry here which would transport people over the river so they could get to Great Paxton

Here the Heron Trail follows the Ouse Valley Way.
