Perfectly located after a steep climb (or descent) on the Coastal Path

You don't always get through the forest with dry feet, so appropriate footwear helps. Otherwise, it's a very idyllic, varied section. Sometimes you come right to the river!

Unfortunately, it's more of an expensive restaurant than a village pub. There's nothing to eat between breakfast, lunch and dinner. Large parking lot and an even larger beer garden.

Sunday lunch smelled delicious. Had a nice pint sat by the river. I'll be back for food after seeing that 😋

The Slapton Sands Memorial remembers both the villagers and locals who had to give up their houses to let the army and navy practise for the D Day landings and to the service men who lost their lives during this exercise. Exercise Tiger was ill fated with instances of friendly fire, miss managed communications and amidst the confusion German fast attack boats slipped in amongst the landing craft and sunk a couple. About 700 allies lost their lives here practising for the D Day landings.

An atmospheric country pub that serves good food and drink and offers rooms. The food is good classic pub grub with a lean towards locally sourced products and seafood. Open 12:00 till 21:00 but sometimes a bit later if it's busy. Food served 12:00 - 14:00 & 18:00 - 20:00.

The Harbourne River flows down from Harbourne Head near the Avon Dam to reach the Dart and then the sea. The last tidal section is known as Bow Creek. It's an arm of the upper Dart Estuary with a nice quiet path along its southern shore.
